Early Life and Career
Frederick Charles Freeman (born September 12, 1989) is a Canadian-American professional baseball first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Born in Orange, California, Freeman grew up in Southern California and attended El Modena High School. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round (74th overall) of the 2007 MLB draft.
Freeman made his MLB debut with the Braves in 2010 and quickly established himself as one of the best first basemen in the league. He was named an All-Star five times with the Braves and won a Silver Slugger Award in 2016. In 2021, Freeman signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers.
Records and Accomplishments
Freeman has set several franchise records with the Dodgers. In 2022, he broke Johnny Frederick's record for doubles in a season, hitting 53. He was also selected to his seventh NL All-Star Team.
Personal Life
Freeman is married to Chelsea Freeman and they have three children. He is known for his charitable work, especially his support for children's hospitals. In 2022, he was awarded the Roberto Clemente Award for his community service.
