Argentina Vs Colombia

Still no official confirmation has yet been received from either the Argentine or Colombian Football Federation (AFA and FCF, respectively) or South American football's governing body CONMEBOL, but various media sources across the continent are reporting that CONMEBOL have penciled in the match being played in Brasilia. The official announcement is expected on Monday and will confirm the match will be played in Brasilia at the magnificent Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha (capacity: almost 73,000), but the schedule has yet to be set in stone with times of 9pm and 9:30pm local time (2am/2:30am in the UK) currently being touted. The venue and kick-off time were meant to have already been confirmed, but it seems that the latest betting scandal engulfing Brazilian football has slowed down the process and delayed the formal go-ahead being forthcoming.

The tournament has yet to live up to expectations with many pundits being highly critical of the quality of football on display and calling it the weakest Copa America in living memory. What the tame nature of the tournament has done is push ticket sales for the semi-finals and final down with traditional football powerhouses (and fierce enemies) Argentina and Brazil overwhelming favourites to play in and win the final. The match really will pit two of the world's best forwards against each other as Colombia's Radamel Falcao takes on Argentina's Lionel Messi. Messi is the Copa America's all-time leading scorer, but both players will be seeking to motivate their respective team-mates to help them reach a final that would see old rivals Argentina and Brazil face off for football's oldest international trophy (first held in 1916).
