The Charlotte Hornets kept their Play-In hopes alive with a hard-fought 118-110 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on October 21, 2022, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Hornets were led by Terry Rozier, who scored 24 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists. LaMelo Ball added 22 points, while Gordon Hayward contributed 18 points and Jalen McDaniels chipped in with 14 points.
The Pelicans were paced by Brandon Ingram, who had 25 points and 7 rebounds. CJ McCollum added 22 points, while Jonas Valanciunas had 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
The Hornets took an early lead and never looked back. They were up by as many as 15 points in the first half, but the Pelicans chipped away and cut the lead to 58-53 at halftime.
The Pelicans continued to rally in the second half and took a brief lead in the third quarter. However, the Hornets responded with a run of their own to take a 85-80 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Hornets maintained their advantage in the fourth quarter and were able to close out the game. They shot 50% from the field for the game, while the Pelicans shot just 43%.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 3-3 on the season and are now tied for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. They will face the Miami Heat on October 23 in their next game.
